Hi Everyone, I hope that you have all had a good month. The dolphins certainly appear to be enjoying themselves.
Over the last month we have seen Wave, Ripple, Tallula, Marianna, Ollie, Bianca, Hope, Georgie, Ali, Takanna, Rob Roy, Tiffany, Bubbles, Unhap and Bronny.
The dolphins have been having lots of fun bow riding lately. They love surfing in the bow waves the ships and tugs create as they go up and down the river. We have seen them in front of the ship Accolade nearly every afternoon.
Ripple and Marianna have been having a good fish with the Pelicans. It is always very interesting watching the interactions between the Dolphins and the seagulls, cormorants and pelicans as they fish together.
We are coming up to an exciting time with Christmas and the New Year approaching. The Port River Dolphins usually have their calves over the next few months. One of our female dolphins Oriana is looking particularly large and I’m certain she will have a brand new baby very soon. Hopefully it won’t be long until we have some new calves and hopefully they will be healthy and will be able to survive the many threats that unfortunately face these beautiful dolphins.
